Jeffrey K. Austin, O.D., F.A.A.O.

New Eyes

Dr. Austin is one of the most respected and experienced Optometrists in Southern Nevada. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Austin, a proud Las Vegas native, has been practicing in Southern Nevada since 1995. He joined New Eyes in the Fall of 2008.

Dr. Austin graduated with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry, where he is a current faculty member of the school. He is also the administrator of the Optometry Student Internship Program at New Eyes, and is active in the optometric community in Nevada, as well as across the United States. Dr. Austin has been President and Education Chairman of the Nevada Optometric Association and is currently President of the Mountain West Council of Optometrists. Dr. Austin was also instrumental in writing and implementing important Optometric Legislation for the State of Nevada.

Dr. Austin has been working with New Eyes Founder and Cataract Surgeon Dr. Helga F. Pizio, since 1999. He is board-certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and is committed to comprehensive eye care with the best results possible. Dr. Austin has contributed his expertise to a variety of articles and publications and has presented at numerous conferences and symposia devoted to advancing the field of eye care and ocular disease management.

Dr. Calvo was born in southern California and was raised in Boulder City, Nev. He received his undergraduate degree from the Honors College at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and graduated magna cum lauda. He received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and received the Outstanding Student in Surgery award. Dr. Calvo completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. where he co-edited the 7th edition of the Wills Eye Manual and was chosen to serve as co-chief resident in his final year. Following residency, he spent a year with the Indian Health Service providing medical and surgical eye care to Native Americans in Arizona. He then completed a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Moran Eye Center, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, where he received the Fellow of the Year award.

Dr. Calvo specializes in a variety of medical and surgical conditions of the retina and vitreous including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, uveitis, retinal vascular diseases, and has a special interest in pediatric retinal conditions. Dr. Calvo has authored numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed publications. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.

Judy C. Liu, M.D. - Retina Consultants of Nevada

Dr. Liu was born in Miaoli, Taiwan and raised in eastern Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate degree at Harvard College where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She then went on to earn a master’s degree in the History of Medicine at Harvard University. She received her M.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn., then went on to do her internship at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz. Dr. Liu completed a residency in General Ophthalmology as well as a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Liu has served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology (adjunct faculty) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the Best Doctors in America database.  She is fluent in Taiwanese.

Dr. Liu specializes in a variety of medical and surgical conditions of the retina and vitreous including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, endophthalmitis, uveitis and retinal vascular diseases. She has been involved with clinical research on diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Liu is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Neibaur is a board-certified ophthalmologist and specialist in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery. At Nevada Eye Physicians in Las Vegas, Nev., he provides diagnostic eye exams and surgical procedures for the treatment of cataracts. With a devotion to his patients, Dr. Neibaur is a highly sought-after professional in his field.

Dr. Neibaur specializes in cataract surgery with advanced technology lenses such as the ReSTOR, TECNIS, and Crystalens intraocular lenses in order to reduce patients’ dependency on eyeglasses. He was recently certified in the I-stent, which is implanted during cataract surgery. This procedure helps to control eye pressure. Dr. Neibaur is also one of the first ophthalmologists in Nevada to be certified on the LENSAR femtosecond system.

Dr. Neibaur attended medical school at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Tech University. He then completed an internship and residency at Valley Hospital through Touro University in 2012. During the last year of his residency, he was honored to serve as the chief resident among his peers. Dr. Neibaur is licensed to practice in the state of Nevada and is board certified. He joined Nevada Eye Physicians as a full-time attending physician in 2012.

Dr. Neibaur has published various papers and presentations over the years. Additionally, his volunteer work shows his tremendous character and true care for his patients. During his time at Virginia Tech, he volunteered as a Certified Red Cross Relief Counselor and currently donates his time to the Lions Club Ophthalmology free clinic, as well as the UMC ophthalmology free clinic.

Ksenia Stafeeva, M.D.

New Eyes

Dr. Stafeeva is a native of Russia who came to the United States at the age of 16. She joined New Eyes to help treat patients for advanced corneal diseases and general ophthalmologic pathology. Dr. Stafeeva is bilingual in the Russian and English languages.

Dr. Stafeeva graduated with honors from Gannon University in Erie, Pa and went on to complete her master’s degree at Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa. She then completed her medical school education at the top of her class in 2008 at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa, and she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Medical School Honor Society upon graduating.

Dr. Stafeeva continued her training as an internal medicine intern in Philadelphia, Pa. She went on to complete her ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado. Following her ophthalmology residency, Dr. Stafeeva completed her training in advanced corneal/ocular surface disease and refractive surgery fellowship at Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA in Los Angeles, Calif. under supervision of world-renowned faculty in corneal diseases.

During her residency and fellowship, Dr. Stafeeva was involved in multiple research projects and presented in a variety of national ophthalmology meetings. One of her interests is researching and treating patients with significant ocular surface pathology and disease, including ocular surface reconstructions.

Dr. Stafeeva is well-trained and experienced with advanced cataract surgery, a variety of complex corneal surgeries (corneal transplants: PK and DSEK), secondary lens implantation, intraocular lens exchange, ocular surface reconstructive surgeries (ocular lesion excisions and pterygium removal), as well as a number of refractive surgery procedures, including LASIK and PRK.

Dr. Mark Stradling specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery at Nevada Eye Physicians. He treats numerous conditions and diseases that occur in the eye by offering diagnostic testing and treatment options for his patients. With extensive experience and training, he uses innovative techniques and technology to provide effective treatments and results.

Dr. Stradling earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and Spanish in 2000 from the University of Arizona. He then attended Lake Erie/College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received his medical degree. Dr. Stradling interned at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. as chief resident and chair-elect for the Council of Residents and Fellow. In 2007, he became the first ophthalmology resident selected into the residency program in the state of Nevada. Dr. Stradling is a clinical trainer at the Valley Hospital Ophthalmology Residency Program and serves as an adjunct professor at Touro University.

In 2008, Dr. Stradling assisted in the publishing of a scientific study to determine the efficacy of two different medications used for cataract surgery. The study received top honors from the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology/Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Ravi Reddy received his medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed his residency at the Case Western School of Medicine/University Hospitals of Cleveland. During his training, he received advanced training in oculoplastic surgery and ocular microsurgery. Over the last several years, he has served as Principal Investigator for numerous FDA-monitored drug studies involving dry eye syndrome and glaucoma. He has a special interest in eyelid disorders such as ptosis, tumors, and malpositions.

Dr. Reddy is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. While serving his country in the United States Air Force, Major Reddy held the position of Chief of Ophthalmology at Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital, Nellis Air Force Base. He has been in private practice in Las Vegas since 1991. Dr. Reddy joined the Shepherd Eye Center in 2006, bringing his expertise in oculoplastic surgery to the practice.

Dr. Taylor completed his pre-medical studies at Southern Methodist University and received his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston. He completed his internship at the University of Pennsylvania and received advanced training in small incision cataract surgery and refractive surgery while completing his residency at the University of Oklahoma, Dean McGee Eye Institute. He completed additional LASIK and PRK surgical training in Toronto, Canada and was one of the first surgeons to offer Conductive Keratoplasty (CK) for the correction of presbyopia when it was first FDA approved. Dr. Taylor’s expertise in refractive surgery today includes not only LASIK but also ICL (implantable contact lenses).

Dr. Taylor is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has served on numerous committees for the Clark County Medical Society. Dr. Taylor joined the Shepherd Eye Center in 2001, bringing his expertise in small incision cataract surgery and refractive surgery to the practice.
