Meet the Leadership Team

Charles Smith
Chief Executive Officer
Charles Smith joined Comprehensive EyeCare Partners in January 2019 as Chief Executive Officer and serves as a member of the Board of Directors. Charles brings 20 years of healthcare experience primarily serving in a variety of specialty-focused practice management leadership roles building and operating national provider networks in private equity backed and publicly traded firms.
He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at Vantage Oncology (a wholly-owned subsidiary of The US Oncology Network and McKesson). Prior to joining Vantage, Charles was Vice President of Cancer Center Services at The US Oncology Network.
Charles holds an MBA from Texas A&M University – Mays Business School. After earning a PhD from the University of Nebraska (Medical Sciences / Biophysics), he accepted a position at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and appointment as a member of the clinical faculty at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Alison Goldwater
Senior Vice President of Managed Care
Alison holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Management and Policy from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She enjoys spending time with her family traveling, snow skiing, and exploring the outdoors.

Kent Duncombe
VP of Human Resources
Kent plays an integral role in developing and carrying out the organizations long and short-term strategic objectives. Prior to joining Comprehensive EyeCare Partners, Kent served as Divisional Director of Human Resources for Genesis. Kent brings 20 years of experience in human resources with extensive experience in healthcare, as well as finance.
Kent received his bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Weber State University and his master’s in Human Resources from Utah State University. Kent enjoys traveling, snow skiing and spending time outdoors with his family.

Marcia Sajewicz
VP of Strategy & Operations
Marcia has more than 20 years of strategy, finance and business development experience with a focus on high-growth companies and the healthcare sector. Prior to CompEye, Marcia was an executive with the Business Development team at PharmaLogic , where she led the evaluation of growth opportunities for the company which included collaborations with pharmaceutical companies, health systems and academia.
Marcia received her Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, eating well and strumming on her guitar.

Francis Mao
VP of Operations for Nevada/Utah
Francis holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and a minor in mathematics. He enjoys volunteering, camping, hiking, yoga and meditation in addition to time with his family.

Christina Kennelley
Director of Clinical Operations
Christina Kennelley began her ophthalmology career at the Shepherd Eye Center more than 30 years ago, as a scribe for practice founder, Dr. John Shepherd. After gaining experience at an advertising agency in Portland, Ore., Christina returned to Las Vegas, accepting the Marketing Director position at Shepherd Eye Center where she began building the practice from one small office, into the largest ophthalmology practice in the state of Nevada, and one of the top brands in the ophthalmology field across the country. Today the practice has five offices, 19 doctors and nearly 200 employees.
Eventually promoted to Administrator, Ms. Kennelley has seen the company through several successful practice mergers throughout the years, fine tuning her skills to blend the business models of different stand-alone practices into one cohesive unit. She particularly enjoys using technology to create staffing efficiencies. When Shepherd Eye Center was acquired by Comprehensive EyeCare Partners in 2018, she was appointed Director of Clinical Operations for all practices under the CompEye umbrella.
Christina graduated with a business degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has completed the ASOA Executive Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. She and her husband have raised three children. She enjoys spending her free time volunteering at Catholic Charities Food Pantry and Three Square Food Bank with her family.

Sean Taylor
Regional VP of Business Development
Sean Taylor joined Comprehensive EyeCare Partners (CompEye) in December 2021 and serves as Regional Vice President of Business Development. He is responsible for leading mergers and acquisitions for all new ophthalmology, sub-specialty practices and surgery center partnerships across the Pacific Northwest and other key regions in the West.
Sean has more than 20 years of experience in Business Development, Strategic Account Management and Operations. He is well-versed in complex business models and eco-systems with physicians, mergers and acquisitions, hospitals and ASC’s.
Prior to CompEye, Sean served as the Vice President of Business Development for companies such as Satellite Healthcare, McKesson, MEDNAX and Vituity.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration from California State University, Chico. He enjoys spending time with his family, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, Spartan races, live music, and all things sports.
