Surgeons from Comprehensive EyeCare Partners Affiliate Ophthalmology practices: (New Eyes, Shepherd Eye Center, and Nevada Eye Physicians) are the first ophthalmologists in Southern Nevada to implant the new Alcon Vivity intraocular lens for cataract patients. This new lens technology, known as AcrySof IQ Vivity, provides an additional option for cataract patients to treat presbyopia and is a first-of-its-kind, non-diffractive lens that offers a continuous extended range of vision while maintaining a low incidence of visual disturbances, like a monofocal lens. The lens provides sharp distance and intermediate vision in bright or dim light, similar to that of a monofocal lens, without the glare and other drawbacks of existing multifocal technologies.
“This innovation provides new possibilities in visual correction to a greater range of patients, who would otherwise be poor candidates for multifocal IOLs,” said Dr. Steve Hansen from Shepherd Eye Center.
New Eyes, Shepherd Eye Center, and Nevada Eye Physicians will continue to be the only ophthalmology practices in Southern Nevada to offer this exciting new technology until it becomes more broadly available next year.
